The EU and Uzbekistan are strong collaborators. The EU has allocated €168 million to support sustainable development in Uzbekistan for the period 2014-2020, demonstrating this. As a result, the EU's relationships with Uzbekistan have been strengthened. Rural development and agriculture are the key areas of EU collaboration with Uzbekistan, including horticulture, irrigation, water management, livestock, and professional education. They also collaborate closely with the Uzbek government on improving sector governance and reforming the public sector. Municipal infrastructure, hydropower, drinking water, wastewater and private sector development are among the sectors in which the EU invests.
